Today was a great DAY

Today we are mesuring our plants! 

We are learning about.......

Stems, roots, flowers, leafs, grains and petals.

Sydnees plant is 4 cm and 2 cm.
Carter's plant is 0 cm.

Today we also started to learn about division.  Mme gave us cups to represent groups and "jettons".  We had to count the number of jettons that Mme told us to count out and then we had to divide them into equal groups into the cups.  Mme told us how many groups we needed to have. T

Design process in science

Today in science we had to make a structure that was safe and stable to protect an egg from falling
 here are some examples. The first step you have to draw your what you are going to need to do.  Mme gave us certain materials a paper bag,some Popsicle sticks and other stuff and we had to explain why we designed it that way using the words stable and foundation.  
Once everyone had completed their designs, we went into the stairwell and drop from the 3rd, 6th and 12th step.   The eggs that survived went to the top level.  Only ONE project designed a stable and safe place for the egg.  What an amazing time.

Opening day of Olympics

We are watching Sochi olympics opening ceremony (cbc tv).

Our class is cheering for Canada! Canada came out around 11:00 this morning! The Olympics are in Sochi Russia. We wonder which country will bring home the most medals.

Today we went to the WSO or Winnipeg symphony orchestra, first we went on the bus then we finally got to the WSO. We got to watch a AMAZING show! We had lots of fun!  Then we went back to school and had music.WE HAD A FUN DAY!!

Hero's and Numbers!

Today, in French we are learning about hero's in are life.  Mine and Bailee's heros are: Bailee, "My dog Nala is my hero." Vaughn, "My mom and dad are my hero's.

Our class is sharing about their hero's:

Were representing numbers on the IPADS! Vaughn's group is representing 489. Bailee's group is representing 742.  We are taking pictures of different ways to represent the number with base 10 blocks, then we have to describe it and put it all together in Book Creator.  Stay tuned to see what we have created!

We learned about man made structures and natural structures. We also went on a QR code scavenger hunt with the IPads. Yesterday we made mystery number QR codes, the notes gave us clues to the mystery number and then we scanned the QR code with the iPads to find the answers.
