A recent writing activity involved students closing their eyes while I put a substance in their hands. They were instructed to put the substance in their mouths and then write about what it tasted and felt like. Here is what they had to say....

FRACTIONS.. YUM!
Today in math, we learned about fractions. Mme had 12 apples, 12 strawberries and 12 cookies. She asked us how we could make it even so every one received the same amount of everything. As a class, we decided to cut it in half to have equal parts of each whole fruit or cookie. 1 apple is equal to 2 halves, 1/2 and 1/2.
When we cut up all the food we had 24 halves of everything. We learned that 1 whole cut in 2 evenly is always 1/2. FRACTIONS are INCREDIBLE and FUN!

Earth Day
This week was Earth Week. We have done computer projects to promote and help the earth. Our school performed a spring musical called Assignment Earth. The songs that we sang were called It's Our World, Turn It Off, Lean Green Air Machine, and We Are Able.
Did you know that if there is pollution in the air or in the water animals could die?

Today in MATH
Today in math we have been working on multiplication with paper plates, bingo chips and also dice. We had to roll the die and it represented our number groups and then when we rolled again it represented the amount of bingo chips in each group. We had lots of fun doing it!!!! The plates represent the groups and the bingo chips represented the numbers in each group. For example, three groups of two equals six .
HERE WE ARE LEARNING ABOUT MULTIPLICATION
Each day we practice counting but two's, three's and today we added four's and five's to help us learn our multiplication. Multiplication is incredibly fun.

OUR LAST WEEK WITH THE IPADS...
This was our last week with the ipads in our class and we wanted to do something to show off how well we communicate and express ourselves in French.
Mme gave us plays which were adapted by Wendy Maxwell. We had to practice them many times. Then, we used the app Puppet Pals and chose our characters and recorded the play.
We loved doing this activity because it proves that we have learned so much French in our four years in school. Even though it is not perfect, we are so proud of everything that we have accomplished this far.
We are sad to see the ipads go, we had the best learning experiences having them at our fingertips. The world is ours to discover and we will continue to do this, just in different ways. Have fun watching our INCREDIBLE plays because we had an INCREDIBLE time making them.
Our Structure Videos.
The final project in our Structures unit was to create videos explaining concepts and vocabulary that we had learned. First, Mme gave us several videos that she downloaded from Discovery Education. We had to import all of the videos into imovie so that we could work with them. Once the videos were imported we were able to choose clips from any of the videos to use in our own video.
We were then able to extract the audio and record our own voices into the clips, sharing what we had learned about structures and bridges. The neatest thing was that we put ourselves into the video by green screening. Mme took video of us in front of the green screen and then we added them to our videos.
We did not do this project alone and could not have done it without the help of one of our coordinators of instruction, Joan Badger. She showed us all of the steps and was there to help us with anything that we needed.
This was such a great way to show our learning and understanding of what Mme had taught us throughout the course of the unit. We are very proud of our learning and hope that you enjoy our INCREDIBLE videos.
